ITC EWAT Programme Investment Readiness Bootcamps in Ghana and Nigeria in 2023 are now accepting applications. In order to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the AfCFTA, the initiative assists women working in the agri-food industry.

The bootcamps will take place in Accra and Lagos, respectively, in July and August of 2023. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) have jointly launched the Empowering Women and Boosting Livelihoods through Agricultural Trade (EWAT) project in an effort to improve women’s livelihoods through agricultural trade and leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

With the help of the EWAT program, women producers, processors, traders, cooperatives, and associations—both formal and informal can take advantage of the opportunities provided by the AfCFTA in the value chains for agriculture and agroprocessing.

The request for applications gives participants the chance to take part in two demanding, two-day bootcamps in Ghana and Nigeria. This is how the boot camps will function: 2023 July 24–25 in Accra, Ghana.

  • In 2023, in Lagos, Nigeria, on August 10–11. Why Take Part? The Rewards Await The advantages of taking part in these boot camps are numerous. The ITC commits to organize catering for both days of the bootcamps. Additionally, interactive sessions with capital providers will be a part of the bootcamps, creating new opportunities for financial cooperation.

For female entrepreneurs that live abroad, the initiative might be able to arrange lodging and/or travel. The selection process will be followed by the confirmation of these arrangements. Who Qualifies? The following requirements must be satisfied in order to be eligible for the bootcamp:

  • The agrifood sector is where the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise) must operate. • The MSME must fall within the category of micro and small businesses or be in the starting stage. • A women-led cooperative or women must be in charge of the MSME. • The MSME should grasp bookkeeping at a minimum on a fundamental level. • The MSME should be planning to acquire financing within the next six months and have been in operation for at least a year. • The company representative must commit to being present for the entire two days of the bootcamp. The business representative • The firm representative should be proficient in English in order to attend the bootcamp. Application Method
  • There are only 35 available places per nation. Companies are chosen based on a first-come, first-served basis and according to the aforementioned criteria.
